I know that I usually talk luxury fashion on this blog, but luxury brands are not always the best when it comes to practicality. This is especially when it comes to handbags. I think a big part of the reason influencers have so many handbags is that no single handbag of theirs meets all of their needs. So they end up with a closet full of beautiful bags that aren’t as functional as they’d like.

But that’s why I had to share the Kipling Gabbie S Shoulder Bag. This things checks off every box for a travel purse. It comes in lots of colors and is lightweight. There are lots of pockets, including zipped pockets so you can quickly find what you’re looking for. There are even back and front pockets that you can use to conveniently access your passport and phone. The zipped pockets also make it more secure to keep out pickpockets.

It’s made of nylon and dries quickly if you get it wet. Trust me, I know this first hand. It’s big enough for a water bottle, but not too big where you can’t find your stuff inside. The shoulder strap is adjustable so you can can have it at the height that is comfortable for you. This means it can be a shoulder bag or crossbody. Come on, versatility!

Of course, there are a few cons. While the strap is adjustable, it can slide a little so the length of the strap might change a bit while you’re walking with it. I wish there was a locking mechanism to keep it at a given length. I also wish there was an optional strap to make it a top handle. This isn’t a big deal, but I noticed when I’m sitting with this purse (on a plane for instance) I wanted that top handle to be able to grab it and take with me for short distances (airplane bathroom for instance). In both cases, these are preferences for the strap. For the bag, I had zero notes. It was great.

I did take this purse with me to Italy last month and I constantly was grateful I bought it. Full retail price is around $99 but this bag goes on sale. Depending on the color you want, the Gabbie S Shoulder bag is on Amazon right now for around $50 and I think it’s worth every penny. Just make sure that you order the Gabbie with the S or Small in the name. There is a larger version of this bag and it is HUGE. That one is more of a messenger bag, so I wouldn’t recommend the larger one for traveling.
